Pilgrimage — University Chaplaincy Uppsala

April 5: The Upplands Trail to Almunge church

Saturday, April 5th, we step into spring! A well-deserved break from the studies, where you can discover a piece of Swedish history, meet new people, and just breathe. We walk at a calm pace, alternating between conversation and silence, with occasional breaks.

The goal of the hike is Almunge Church, a medieval gem known for its paintings by Albertus Pictor, one of Sweden's most famous medieval artists.

We meet up at 09:10 at Uppsala C, location B2, to catch bus 809 at 09:31. From Länna, we hike towards Almunge Church, with a lunch break in a forest glade. Perhaps we'll pet some lambs at Hagby Farm. The hike is about 10 km through relatively easy terrain with fields, forests, and soft moss. We return to Uppsala by bus around 16:00.

During the hike, we will reflect on some of the pilgrim's key words: Freedom, Simplicity, Silence, Carefreeness, Slowness, Spirituality, and Sharing.

  • What to bring:
